How Bridal Alterations Are Planned
At Stitch Refine, bridal and occasionwear work begins with an assessment of the garment construction, fabric, condition, and the fit you want to achieve. That review helps set a realistic plan before any alteration is approved.
For bridal gowns, the fitting process is usually staged. Depending on the garment, the plan may include two to three appointments, starting with an initial fitting and moving through approved alterations, an intermediate fitting, and a final fitting before collection.
Measured fitting steps for gowns and occasionwear
A clear alteration plan helps each garment move from first review to final collection with fewer surprises.
Common requests include hem and train adjustment, bodice and strap refitting, bustle and fastening adjustment, and occasion-dress alterations. Where available, thread and trim matching is considered during the work, but exact matches cannot be guaranteed until materials are checked.
We also provide written alteration scope notes and garment care and pressing notes so the next steps are clear. Final timing depends on the event date, the construction of the garment, and workshop capacity, so early booking is recommended.
